Reception's Scientists

The Reception children have been learning about different body parts and exploring their functions. As part of their learning, they participated in fun, interactive games such as “Guess the Material,” where they used their hands to feel and identify different textures. Through these hands-on activities, the children developed an understanding that their hands help them feel whether something is soft, rough, smooth, or hard, and to hold, pick up, and handle different objects. The activities encouraged the children to use their senses, explore a variety of materials and develop their understanding of how different body parts help us in our everyday lives.
